Lion Recovery Disk Assistant Überblick
OS X Recovery ist direkt in OS X integriert und ermöglicht es Ihnen, Festplatten zu reparieren oder OS X neu zu installieren, ohne dass Sie eine physische Disc benötigen.
Mit dem OS X Recovery Disk Assistant können Sie OS X Recovery auf einem externen Laufwerk erstellen, das über dieselben Funktionen wie die integrierte OS X Recovery-Funktion verfügt: Lion oder Mountain Lion neu installieren, die Festplatte mit dem Festplatten-Dienstprogramm reparieren, aus einem Time Machine-Backup wiederherstellen oder mit Safari im Internet surfen.
Hinweis: Um mit dem OS X Recovery Disk Assistant eine externe OS X Recovery-Disk zu erstellen, muss auf dem Mac bereits eine Recovery HD vorhanden sein.
Um eine externe OS X-Wiederherstellung zu erstellen, laden Sie die Anwendung „OS X Recovery Disk Assistant“ herunter. Schließen Sie ein externes Laufwerk an, starten Sie den OS X Recovery Disk Assistant, wählen Sie das Laufwerk aus, auf dem Sie die Installation vornehmen möchten, und folgen Sie den Anweisungen auf dem Bildschirm.
Wenn der OS X Recovery Disk Assistant fertig ist, ist die neue Partition im Finder oder im Festplatten-Dienstprogramm nicht sichtbar. Um auf die OS X-Wiederherstellung zuzugreifen, starten Sie den Computer neu, während Sie die Optionstaste gedrückt halten. Wählen Sie im Startmanager „Recovery HD“ aus.

I have a new MacBook Pro 13" 2.9 GHz that came with Lion. When the GM for Mountain Lion was released to developers I installed it on a separate partition I created.
Since Mountain Lion is so much more stable for me than Lion, I wanted to get the DMG to make my own USB key for a Mountain Lion-only installation. Good luck with that.
I had to use Apple's Lion Recovery Disk Assistant to create a copy of the Mountain Lion Recovery HD, so I could boot with it and wipe the entire HD. Before I did that though, just in case, I made one of the Lion Recovery HD.
It worked and I am running only Mountain Lion now.
I suspect that when Apple releases Mountain Lion in the App Store I may be able to get the DMG file. If I still had Lion, Apple would have to release an update to Lion to download the new installer to get to the DMG file.

I have a 500 GB portable USB/Firewire drive that I partitioned into 2 volumes: 1) A 25 GB emergency partition with a full installation of Lion and every disk utility I own (DiskWarrior, TechTool Pro, iPartition, iDefrag, etc.); and 2) a 475 GB partition containing my Time Machine backups and copies of all my software, including the Mac OS 10.7 Installer and 10.7.2 Combo Update.
So, how would an external Lion recovery disk made with this app compare with mine? Can you put any other disk utilities on it, like Drive Genius, etc.? If not, you’d be far, far better off to make one like mine so you’re not restricted to just Disk Utility to fix your Mac’s main drive!

Seems to work with only USB connected disks. This means is not very friendly with MacPros which have four internal drives.

Lion Recovery DIsk Assistant requires an internet connection to use. Which, IMNSHO is BS.
Apple, you're really pissing me off lately.
